year, the Luxury Institute conducts a survey of the highest net - worth individuals to determine the “most luxurious” watch brands.In 2010 out of 33 luxury watch brands, Blancpain came out as the number one most luxurious watch brand, followed by Vacheron Constantin, then Breguet.

This survey identifies the 33 brands that deliver true luxury based solely on the ratings of over 500 ultra wealthy U.S. consumers with a minimum annual income of $200,000 along with a minimum net worth of $5m.
They were asked to rank the watch brands based on four categories:
1. Quality
2. Exclusivity
3. Self Enhancement
4. Social Status
The survey results are part of the Luxury Brand Status Index, which also ranks consumables such as handbags, men's and women's fashions, jewellery and wealth managers.

"The luxury watches category is one of the oldest and most prestigious, and yet the industry is stuck in time in terms of its distribution and customer relationship building innovations. The future belongs to those watch brands that have direct and deep relationships with their end consumers."
