Watch Review | Richard Mille RM 028

Richard Mille introduces their new automatic diver's watch and the first in the collection to have a round case. The RM 028 is slightly smaller to the RM 025 with a diameter of 47mm. The exceptional case and skeletonized movement possesses all the incontestable qualities that typify the watches of Richard Mille .

Following diver's watch ISO 6425 with its water resistant of 300 meters and a unidirectional bezel , the simple lines of the round case of RM 028 conceal a considerable amount of technical expertise . The exceptional water resistance is achieved with a three parts case construction and torque screws with complete integration of the lugs into the case system . With unidirectional rotation to avoid miscalculations whilst diving , the bezel is built up to three layers connected with 22 screws , the use of an additional screwed system attaching the bezel makes it impossible to accidentally dislodge the case . For clearer visibility under water , starting at 12 o'clock , the five minute markers of the first quarter are highlighted in red.

The skeletonized automatic movement of the RM 028 utilizes a rotor with variable geometry , a major innovation of Richard Mille that allows the level of the automatic winding to be adjusted to the user's lifestyle , by adjusting the setting of the rib 's placement , the rotor's inertia can be modified to speed up the winding process during slow paced arm movements or slow down when aggressive action applied. A double barrel system helps improve torque stability over a longer period, giving the watch a power reserve of 55 hours.
