Watch Review | Greubel Forsey

Greubel Forsey Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey blend art and science to create imaginative watches that blur the lines between horology and architecture. Designed to captivate , each Greubel Forsey timepiece is the envisioned through an architectural prism, exhibiting a highly developed sense of proportion, style and history. One of its latest that is making its debut at the SIHH 2010 , the new Double Tourbillion Technique, using the ground breaking Double Tourbillon 30° mechanism as a jump off point , but that’s where the similarities end , several elements have been added, including four fast-rotating co-axial barrels guaranteeing 5 days (120 hours) of power reserve. Coupled of this barrels is the visible spherical differential that drives the power reserve indicator . The hour are displayed on a transparent sapphire crystal ring fitted inside the inner circumference of the bezel to ensure full visual access to the three dimensional depth of the mechanism .

Transparency is also reflected in luminous open worked signature Greubel Forsey hands and both the power reserve indicator at 3 o’clock and sub seconds dial at 9 o’clock are enGreubel Forsey hanced by their red triangular pointers. The 47.5 in diameter cases comes in gold or platinum, which displays a degree of construction and decorative nuance that is well matched to the workmanship of the hand finished calibre GF02s.

With the Double Tourbillon Technique, Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey have created a truly stunning timepiece that is faithful to their philosophy of technical visibility. Each and every element of the mechanism is enhanced and displayed without overshadowing the others. The price for this one of a kind timepiece is around $ 399,000 - 470,000.

Watch Review | Richard Mille RM 028

RM 028Richard Mille introduces their new automatic diver's watch and the first in the collection to have a round case. The RM 028 is slightly smaller to the RM 025 with a diameter of 47mm. The exceptional case and skeletonized movement possesses all the incontestable qualities that typify the watches of Richard Mille .

Following diver's watch ISO 6425 with its water resistant of 300 meters and a unidirectional bezel , the simple lines of the round case of RM 028 conceal a considerable amount of technical expertise . The exceptional water resistance is achieved with a three parts case construction and torque screws with complete integration of the lugs into the case system . With unidirectional rotation to avoid miscalculations whilst diving , the bezel is built up to three layers connected with 22 screws , the use of an additional screwed system attaching the bezel makes it impossible to accidentally dislodge the case . For clearer visibility under water , starting at 12 o'clock , the five minute markers of the first quarter are highlighted in red.

The skeletonized automatic movement of the RM 028 utilizes a rotor with variable geometry , a major innovation of Richard Mille that allows the level of the automatic winding to be adjusted to the user's lifestyle , by adjusting the setting of the rib 's placement , the rotor's inertia can be modified to speed up the winding process during slow paced arm movements or slow down when aggressive action applied. A double barrel system helps improve torque stability over a longer period, giving the watch a power reserve of 55 hours.
